Martyr's day observation

On 30th January 2016 , Martyr's day was observed in the college .The program was very brief with a silent prayer and remembering those brave people who had lost their lifes for the mother nation.Our respected principal Dr Sudha Balagopalan took part in the program and gave a small message.

Republic day Celebrations

The 67th republic day of India was celebrated in the college on behalf of the NSS. The program began with Flag hoisting which was done by our Principal Dr Sudha Balagopalan which was followed by the republic day message from principal.Then we had the NSS song sung and sweet distribution. A session was handled by our SENA member Anjana Sasidharan who was a Republic Day parade member of 2015.She shared the experience of marching in front of some of the greatest personalities of the world. A small presentation was organized by the volunteers about E waste management. Our respected Principal Dr Sudha Balagopalan also made a presentation on E waste management and its benefits to the society. Next , a session was organized by GENSIS camp members about gender inequality .The volunteers were asked to make a street play on topic Gender Inequality. The celebrations ended with lowering the National Flag along with National Anthem being sung.

Orientation class and vigilance week celebration

On 31st October 2015, an Orientation session was conducted which was handled by Mr. Jayachandran, former Thrissur dist. Coordinator. The class was interesting and useful for improvement in the personality development of the volunteers.
In the afternoon session there was a street play on a theme, based on the dangers of drug addiction by skill development team. A pledge was taken that no one will indulge in corruption as part of the Vigilance week observation.

World food day celebration

As a part of world food day on 16th October 2015, the volunteers brought an extra pack of food from their home and these food packs were given to old people living in an old age home named Snehalayam. Food was provided to more than 250 people. Students also spent some time with them.

Students day celebration

World's first Students day was celebrated on 15th October 2015. Programme officer Ms Aswathy spoke about the importance of technology in the most modern world and emphasised on the point that NSS volunteers should concentrate more on technical projects. By doing technical projects, both the volunteers and community are benefited. Pledge was taken to fight against violence and shared the great thoughts of A P J Abdul Kalam.

Gandhi jayanthi celebrations

On 2nd October 2015 we celebrated Gandhi jayanthi by cleaning Velur panchayat road and campus surroundings. Presentations were done by volunteers on the life of Mahatma Gandhi. The volunteers also spend some time to do technical project works and skill development programmes like street play rehearsal.

NSS day celebration

On 24th September 2015, NSS day and Bakrid was celebrated. An orientation session was handled by the P.Os and volunteer secretaries. There was also a talk the by SENA members. SENA members shared their experiences of attending various camps. In the afternoon a quiz program was conducted and cultural activities were arranged by the volunteers.

Driver's day celebration

Driver's day was celebrated on 17th September 2015. Charts were displayed and sweets were distributed to the drivers of the college. The volunteers wished the drivers. As an afternoon session, volunteers also cleaned the herbal vegetable garden the same day.

Literacy day celebrations

On 8th September 2015, literacy day was celebrated by the NSS units of the college. The international theme for world literacy day 2015 was "Literacy and Sustainable Societies". Programme officer Mr Anil M and Volunteer Secretary C J Athul Shankar spoke about the importance of literacy in the society. The NSS volunteers were divided into ten groups and each group made a poster and presented it. Powerpoint presentations were also made by different groups.

Teacher's day celebration

Teacher's day was celebrated on behalf of NSS on 4th September 2015 in the college premises. NSS volunteers welcomed the teachers with teacher's day wishes written on greeting cards which were made by the students itself. Sweets were also distributed to the teachers along with the greeting cards. The program received good response from the teachers.

Annual special camp

The Annual Seven Day special camp was conducted from 21st to 27th August at "Thanal" Kiraloor. The project undertaken was "Water Resource Management" Survey. The project was completed well within the 6 days target. A field trip to Vazhani dam was also organised during the last day.

Independence day celebrations

On August 15th 2015 we celebrated Independence Day starting with a formal flag hoisting ceremony. The flag hoisting was done by Col. M P Induchudan (Retd.) HOD of department of computer science. He gave the Independence Day message to the volunteers that they are the future of India and they have to proceed together as a team for the development of nation in all areas. Three of the volunteers gave a speech in English and Hindi respectively. This was followed by sweets distribution to the volunteers and staff. Cultural programs consisting of patriotic song, tableau presentations by various groups and speech competitions etc. were conducted.
In the afternoon session an orientation session was conducted for the newly enrolled NSS volunteers. The session was handled by Mr Arun K L, assistant professor in Mechanical Engg. Dept and former Programme officer. The SENA members organised an Ice-Breaking session for the freshers to increase the team spirit of the volunteers.

 

Hiroshima day observation

On 6th August, Hiroshima day was observed in the college. All the NSS volunteers took part in it. Programme officer Anil M conveyed the message that nuclear energy can be used for both good things as well as for destruction purposes. The society has to concentrate on the positive aspects of it and should not use nuclear energy as a weapon. Volunteers took a pledge to use the resources in society for good purposes and not to cause harm to others.

 

 

Banana bunch harvesting

On 4th August we harvested nendra vazha kula from the vazhathottam maintained by the volunteers. The programme was inaugurated by Hon. MLA Madhavan P A. He spoke about the importance of organic farming in modern society. Vidya trust Executive director G Mohanachadran, Trust coordinator T B Ramachandran, NSS Programme officers of units 101 and 200, Eco club secretary Sudhan Karayil, Subramanain N K, NSS volunteers and Eco club members participated in the programme. Students cultivated 160 banana bunches in the campus which were purely organic.

 

 

Digital india week

During the 2nd week of July, we conducted a program on 'Digital Empowerment on 10.07.2015 at 12.45 pm in Main seminar Hall. NSS Volunteers, Cleaning staffs and Drivers of our college attended the programme. It was the volunteers who gave awareness on this particular topic.
