On 31st October 2015, an Orientation session was conducted which was handled by Mr. Jayachandran, former Thrissur dist. Coordinator. The class was interesting and useful for improvement in the personality development of the volunteers.
In the afternoon session there was a street play on a theme, based on the dangers of drug addiction by skill development team. A pledge was taken that no one will indulge in corruption as part of the Vigilance week observation.
As a part of world food day on 16th October 2015, the volunteers brought an extra pack of food from their home and these food packs were given to old people living in an old age home named Snehalayam. Food was provided to more than 250 people. Students also spent some time with them.
World's first Students day was celebrated on 15th October 2015. Programme officer Ms Aswathy spoke about the importance of technology in the most modern world and emphasised on the point that NSS volunteers should concentrate more on technical projects. By doing technical projects, both the volunteers and community are benefited. Pledge was taken to fight against violence and shared the great thoughts of A P J Abdul Kalam.
Driver's day was celebrated on 17th September 2015. Charts were displayed and sweets were distributed to the drivers of the college. The volunteers wished the drivers. As an afternoon session, volunteers also cleaned the herbal vegetable garden the same day.
On 8th September 2015, literacy day was celebrated by the NSS units of the college. The international theme for world literacy day 2015 was "Literacy and Sustainable Societies". Programme officer Mr Anil M and Volunteer Secretary C J Athul Shankar spoke about the importance of literacy in the society. The NSS volunteers were divided into ten groups and each group made a poster and presented it. Powerpoint presentations were also made by different groups.
The Annual Seven Day special camp was conducted from 21st to 27th August at "Thanal" Kiraloor. The project undertaken was "Water Resource Management" Survey. The project was completed well within the 6 days target. A field trip to Vazhani dam was also organised during the last day.
On 6th August, Hiroshima day was observed in the college. All the NSS volunteers took part in it. Programme officer Anil M conveyed the message that nuclear energy can be used for both good things as well as for destruction purposes. The society has to concentrate on the positive aspects of it and should not use nuclear energy as a weapon. Volunteers took a pledge to use the resources in society for good purposes and not to cause harm to others.
On 4th August we harvested nendra vazha kula from the vazhathottam maintained by the volunteers. The programme was inaugurated by Hon. MLA Madhavan P A. He spoke about the importance of organic farming in modern society. Vidya trust Executive director G Mohanachadran, Trust coordinator T B Ramachandran, NSS Programme officers of units 101 and 200, Eco club secretary Sudhan Karayil, Subramanain N K, NSS volunteers and Eco club members participated in the programme. Students cultivated 160 banana bunches in the campus which were purely organic.
During the 2nd week of July, we conducted a program on 'Digital Empowerment on 10.07.2015 at 12.45 pm in Main seminar Hall. NSS Volunteers, Cleaning staffs and Drivers of our college attended the programme. It was the volunteers who gave awareness on this particular topic.
